Fabrizio Romano reveals Arsenal target is currently in 'England' as deal edges closer

Noni Madueke has arrived back in England to undergo a medical ahead of a £52m move to Arsenal from Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners have swooped for Madueke as part of Mikel Arteta's attacking overhaul this summer and he is closing in on a switch to the Emirates. The English winger was given permission by the Blues to return to the UK after the two clubs agreed on a deal.

Madueke had been with Enzo Maresca's squad at the FIFA Club World Cup and taken part in the tournament before his transfer came to fruition. The West Londoners are in action tonight in the final against Paris Saint-Germain but he'll play no part as he's set to become Arteta's fourth summer signing.

Romano: Madueke Back In London For Arsenal Medical

The English winger is set to sign for the Gunners

Noni Madueke in action for Chelsea

Madueke enjoyed his best season to date with Chelsea under Maresca after registering seven goals and four assists in 32 Premier League games. He seemed to have earned the Italian coach's trust, but the Blues' transfer activity, the signings of Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens, has seen his opportunities of assured game time diminish.

Arsenal have pounced amid Arteta looking to ensure they don't experience an injury crisis as they did last season. Bukayo Saka's lengthy spell on the sidelines was a massive issue that harmed their push for the title.

Madueke can offer versatility in attack and gives Arteta another option ahead of a likely third run at the title. He is back in the UK to complete to put pen to paper on a contract:

"Noni Madueke has returned to England from the US with medical tests to follow as new Arsenal player. All documents are ready between clubs after £52m package deal agreed on Thursday."
