Preparations for the first season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium are well underway. Everton will host Brighton & Hove Albion (2pm kick-off) on Sunday, August 24 in what will be the first competitive match at the new ground.

The historic occasion will come a fortnight after the final test event on the Liverpool waterfront. That will see Everton host sister club Roma in a friendly on Saturday, August 9 (3pm kick-off). Following the first-team game, a legends match will be held between the clubs, which are both owned by The Friedkin Group. with Peter Reid and Fabio Capello set to manage their respective former teams.

With that Roma double-header now just a month away, excitement is growing for the new day that is about to dawn at Everton.

And these latest images show just what is waiting for supporters for that sell-out pre-season friendly.

Recent developments have been the installation of the new tunnel and of the first giant club crest on the outer walls of the stands.

As you can see, the pitch - which has been re-laid after the first test events saw Everton's Under-18s and U21s make history on the banks of the Mersey - is looking resplendent in the summer sunshine.
