Alvaro Carreras seals dream Real Madrid move after a forgettable spell at Manchester United.
From United Frustration to Spanish Glory
Alvaro Carreras has made a surprising return to Real Madrid in a £43m deal this summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old left-back was seen as a future star in the making. But, he never even got off the ground while at Manchester Utd. He was signed for the Red Devils from Real Madrid in 2020 with many great hope. Although, in the end, he did not play a single minute for them at senior level.
Instead, Carreras was sent out on loan to Preston North End, Granada, and finally to Benfica. It was at Benfica, that the player began to find his feet and form. So, that led to a permanent move last summer for just £5m. Now, only a year later, his talent has been recognised by Real Madrid.
Carreras Joins Long List of Previous United Successes
Alvaro Carreras is far from unique in terms of players succeeding elsewhere after leaving Man Utd. Even though he never wore the iconic red shirt in a PL game, his game shows he has persevered and developed during this journey. His time at Benfica added maturity and experience at the highest level.
Finally, Carreras prepares to go back to the Bernabeu stadium. He joins an increasing number of former Utd players who also have made their careers after leaving Old Trafford. The big transfer is not only personal to the player but it also highlights the road to success when failing to realize one’s talent. Because if talent is seen and developed properly, it has the chance to thrive.
Now, Carreras has the opportunity to develop and perhaps fulfill the potential many thought he had long ago now that he is in Spain.
