Brighton & Hove Albion have announced the departure of captain Vicky Losada after two seasons with the club. During her time with the Seagulls, Losada scored four goals and made 47 appearances in all competitions. She joined in July 2023 from AS Roma.
Beyond her role as captain, Losada also became an ambassador for the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation. Her community work earned her the club’s PFA Community Champion award for the [2024/25 season](https://womenfootball.blog/womens-super-league-table-standings/).
Head coach Dario Vidosic said, “I’d like to thank Vicky – both personally and on behalf of the team – for her unwavering dedication to this club over the past two seasons. Although we only shared one season here, she played a huge role in helping me settle into the job and was a constant source of support and guidance.
“As a player, her accolades speak for themselves. She’s a commanding presence on the pitch, and her wealth of experience is clear for all to see. As a person, she truly embodies what it means to be a captain and a leader – respected and admired by both players and staff, on and off the pitch.
“She epitomises the values we stand for as a club and has been fully committed to driving us forward in our ambition to establish ourselves as a top four WSL side. Her contribution to our historic season last year was nothing short of pivotal, and that achievement will always be a proud part of our legacy.
“We wish her nothing but success in the next steps of her journey and will always be thankful for everything she gave to the club.”
Brighton have secured the signing of defender Manuela Vanegas Cataño, who joins from Real Sociedad. The Colombian international began her senior career with Formas Íntimas and later had spells with Envigado, Atlético Huila, Independiente Medellín, and Espanyol before moving to Real Sociedad in 2021. The 24-year-old made 96 appearances for the Spanish club, scoring 10 goals.
The club has also added Nigerian international goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who arrives on a free transfer from Paris FC. Nnadozie made 118 appearances for the French side, including a standout performance in the Coupe de France against Paris Saint-Germain, where she saved two penalties to secure the victory.
