Pittsburgh Steelers legendary cornerback Mel Blount is 77 years old, but he still makes sure to hit the gym every day.
In a video posted to his X account, Blount showcased his 5 a.m. workout, during which he executed a set of double-loaded band squats.
“Mel Blount rips through a workout at 77. Every morning starts with 5 a.m. workout. Here he shreds through one of his favorite exercises: double-loaded band squats. Long after hanging up the cleats, Mel still trains like he’s gearing up for game day. Discipline doesn’t retire,” the post read.
Blount remains actively involved in the Steelers and Pittsburgh communities, hosting numerous events throughout the year. He is a mainstay on the Steelers’ sidelines during the season, supporting the team he played for from 1970 to 1983.
Over Blount’s Hall of Fame career, he won four Super Bowls, six All-Pros, five Pro Bowls, and was the 1975 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He had 57 career interceptions as part of the Steel Curtain defense.
Blount is often regarded as one of the best cornerbacks to have ever played the game of football. Discipline, such as what he displays in the workout video, is the exact reason Blount reached the heights he did.
