Ruben Amorim’s men returned to Carrington this week ready to begin their preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

The United boss would have hoped that he would have had several additions to his squad by now as he looks to improve on last season’s Premier League campaign.

The team finished the season in 15th place, the lowest a Manchester United team have ever finished in the Premier League and the Reds only managed to score 44 goals, another Red Devil low.

Due to the dismal performances of his squad, Ruben Amorim has been keen to improve all areas of United’s squad, in particular the forward line.

Since securing a deal for Brazilian attacker Matheus Cunha, earlier in the window, the Reds have failed to land any of their top targets.

There have been multiple bids put in for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, however the Bees are seemingly set on receiving over £65 million for their 2024/25 top scorer.

United fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with their club’s transfer dealings this summer as their Premier League rivals, Tottenham and Chelsea, are continuing to complete deals in a swift fashion.

The two London clubs have completed multiple deals already this window and Chelsea are now looking towards swooping in on one of the deals United are looking to make this season.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea are considering a move to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez.

Former Blackburn and Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that the Reds have opened the door for their rivals after struggling to sell current goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

During this summer’s transfer window the Red Devil’s boss has been searching for a new goalkeeper following a series of mistakes from Onana last season.

United seemed likely to sign Martinez earlier in the window as the Argentine attempted to force a move away from Villa.

No formal approach was made for the World Cup winner, however it was heavily rumoured Manchester United were optimistic of securing the goalkeeper’s signature.

But, following a struggle to find suitors for Andre Onana, the Senegalese goalkeeper looks set to stay at Old Trafford for at least another year.

Ruben Amorim will be hoping his goalkeeper minimises the mistakes he made last season and can support United in their push towards the Premier League’s European places next season.
