West Ham United remain after Girona’s Arnau Martínez and negotiations are underway between them and the player’s representatives.
That’s according to AS, relaying information from Catalan TV station TV3, who say direct negotiations are underway between Martínez’s entourage and West Ham this summer.
It appears that the Hammers are working to convince the Girona defender on a move to the London Stadium. If they can do so, they will then need to send an offer to the Spanish side.
They will want a fair price for the 22-year-old, but the belief is that West Ham’s Premier League money should make presenting the right offer no problem at all. There’s no mention of what the asking price might be, though.
AS instead point out that Martínez is undoubtedly one of the great assets in the current Girona squad after proving himself in La Liga. They speculate he’s worth around €10m at present, but that’s very much based on what the likes of Transfermarkt say.
A departure is a possibility either way, and West Ham are talking to his representatives ahead of potentially making an offer.
