Real Betis are maintain contact with Leeds United for striker Mateo Joseph, having already secured an agreement with the player.
That’s according to El Desmarque, who report that the Spanish side are working on a deal for the Leeds striker this summer.
They explain that Joseph is very much the main target for Betis to bolster their forward line, and they are keeping talks alive with Leeds for him.
The situation is currently not working in their favour despite there being no problems with the youngster. He has put other proposals on hold to wait until the last minute for Betis to reach an agreement.
He wants to play at Heliópolis and there is a complete understanding with the player’s agents. Initial contacts and a roadmap was drawn up with them weeks ago.
However, there is still no agreement with Leeds over a potential transfer and Betis would also like to move players on to make room for Joseph as well. The biggest stumbling block is current Borja Iglesias, whose salary blocks an incomings for the time being.
Once that has been resolved they will make a final push for Joseph, who is the preferred choice this summer. For now, they’re maintaining contacts with Leeds before making that final push.
