On the move: The former Wanderers who have switched clubs this summer

Dennis Politic

The winger was snapped up by Romanian champions Steaua Bucharest following a couple of impressive seasons with city rivals Dinamo.

Politic signed for a reported €900,000 plus winger Alexandru Musi, penning a three-year deal, and could now play Champions League football.

The 25-year-old was one of the ‘Junior Whites’ who played against Coventry in 2019 and went on to make 30 appearances for Bolton before heading to Italian club Cremonese.

He had another stint on England on loan at Port Vale in 2022/23 before returning to Romania, where his reputation has grown ever since.

Adam Senior

The former Bolton youngster is back in the EFL this season after joining Barnet following their promotion from the National League.

Senior spent the last couple of years at Halifax Town following his release by the Whites, becoming a key member of the backline and even taking on the captain’s armband.

“This is a guy who’s been on our radar for several years. He’s a fantastic age and he’s going to bring a lot of quality, a lot of leadership to Barnet,” said Dean Brennan.

Liam Gordon

The full-back has earned another crack at League One football after joining Port Vale following their promotion under Darren Moore.

Gordon impressed for Walsall last term as the Saddlers reached the play-off final at Wembley, coming up just short against Wimbledon.

“I played a bit of League One football when I was at Bolton, I had a spell of that and I have always wanted that back,” he said. “I have always had that fire in my belly to get back into League One and show people that I can do it.

Xavier Amaechi

The wide man is back in English football and could come up against Wanderers next season after joining Plymouth.

Amaechi spent the past couple of seasons at Magdeburg, scoring five goals in 25 appearances for the Bundesliga 2 club last term.

His previous taste of League One football came during a loan spell with the Whites in 2021/22 but he failed to nail down a place in the side amid bad injury luck.

Nat Ogbeta

Another familiar face Bolton could come up against next term, Ogbeta has joined Barnsley on a season-long loan.

The full-back spent the second half of 2023/24 on loan at Wanderers, playing 17 times and scoring twice. He started the play-off final against Oxford after Randell Williams picked up an injury in the build-up.

Ogbeta joined Plymouth last summer and made 20 appearances last term as the Pilgrims were relegated from the Championship.

The 33-year-old has joined the seventh club of his career after heading to Tranmere on a one-year deal.

Lowe made 71 appearances for Bolton across two seasons before heading to Salford in the summer of 2020.

He spent the last couple of years at Port Vale, playing 18 times last term as Darren Moore’s side secured promotion back to League One.

Tom Walker

The winger will play his football at Chorley next season after helping Radcliffe stay in the National League North.

Walker progressed through Wanderers’ youth ranks and went on to make 20 appearances at senior level, scoring his first goal against Wigan, before he was released in 2017.

The 29-year-old has since had spells at Stockport and Salford among others. He got a second chance in the Football League with Harrogate in 2020 but only featured 12 times for the Yorkshire outfit.

Nathan Baxter

Finishing with the trio who departed Bolton this summer and have moved onto new pastures, Baxter headed to Vicarage Road to compete with Egil Selvik for the number one shirt.

The goalkeeper spent two seasons with the Whites and played a key role in 2023/24 as the squad narrowly missed out on promotion.

Baxter battled with Luke Southwood for playing time last term and was brought back into the team by Steven Schumacher for the home game against Stockport, making several impressive stops. However, he was dropped for the final couple of games against Peterborough and Stevenage.

Ricardo Santos

The centre-back is preparing for his first taste of Championship football after heading to Swansea City.

Santos helped Wanderers win promotion from League Two and later took on the captain’s armband, leading out the team at Wembley as they thrashed Plymouth in the Vertu Trophy final.

However, last season was a tough one for the 30-year-old who spent several months on the sidelines with an injury.

Gethin Jones

Another long-serving defender who departed at the end of last season, Jones is now back in League Two after heading to MK Dons.

The versatile defender now reunites with Aaron Collins as Paul Warne’s squad push for promotion to the third tier.

Jones was also a big part of the promotion under Ian Evatt and got on the scoresheet against Plymouth at Wembley.
