Leeds United have four clear options for next Daniel Farke transfer priority

Leeds United have made a positive start to the summer transfer window but there's still plenty of work to do before Daniel Farke's side head into the new Premier League season.

The Whites have already signed Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol, Sebastian Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson, while having also had a number of bids rejected for Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff. It's clear that Leeds are looking to bolster their midfield options having also shown an interest in Hoffenheim midfielder Anton Stach, but after that, what position do they target?

The Whites know a new goalkeeper is a must this summer, with Illan Meslier struggling with consistency once again. Farke's decision to drop the French shot stopper in favour of Karl Darlow to get the club over the promotion finish line, spoke volumes.

The club are still assessing their options and are yet to make a decision on their number one target. Leeds have been linked with a number of potential replacements, with LeedsLive taking a look at the four standout transfer options.

Lucas Perri

Lyon's Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri has been repeatedly linked with a move to Elland Road in recent weeks and the financial situation at the Ligue 1 club makes him an enticing proposition.

Lyon were demoted to the second division last month due to significant financial difficulties, but this decision has now been overturned by France's financial regulatory body, the Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion (DNCG).

The French heavyweights, who have clinched the domestic title seven times, will be subject to stringent transfer rules. However, their reinstatement to the top tier gives the club hope of retaining some of their key players.

Nonetheless, it seems likely that some big names may still depart to help improve the club's financial standing. Leeds are known to be fans of goalkeeper Perri, who is reportedly on the radar of several clubs, although it's not believed that a formal approach has been made by United as yet.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic

Leeds have been linked with 6ft 8in Torino shot-stopper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, after reports in Italy claimed the Whites had triggered a €20 million (£17.2m) release clause in the the Serb's contract.

However, sources have informed LeedsLive that information is innacurate and the 28-year-old is probably the most unrealistic option on the list. With 19 caps for his country - he has one year left on his Torino deal though the Serie A club have the option of another, making that contract a two-year deal.

Nick Pope

Newcastle United's Nick Pope was also linked with a move to Elland Road earlier in the window though the understanding is that the Magpies want to keep the goalkeeper at the club and the player himself also wants to stay.

That stance could change, however, if Eddie Howe's side bring in Burnley shot-stopper James Trafford. Pope played a major part in Newcastle's impressive defensive record that took them from relegation strugglers to a Champions League outfit over the last few seasons.

The Whites are yet to make an approach for the England international, but it's an interesting one to watch as the window progresses.

Robin Zentner

The Athletic claims Mainz shot stopper Robin Zentner is also on Leeds' list for potential goalkeeper options this summer.

The 30-year-old has struggled at times in the Bundesliga but has seen an upturn in form in recent years and came close to earning his first cap for Germany in the Spring of this year.

At 6ft4 he's got a good reputation as a decent shot stopper, with his contract at Mainz set to expire in the summer of 2028.
