Arsenal transfer target Rodrygo would want to play on the left wing should the Gunners sign him this summer, according to Defensa Central.
The 2024/25 season was yet another trophyless one for Arsenal. While it was an impressive campaign, one that saw them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League and finish second in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta will be all too aware of the fact he has won no major silverware with the Gunners since 2019.
Arsenal are already making moves for the new season. They have signed midfielder Martin Zubimendi and are close to recruiting Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. With the North London side expected to add a striker to their ranks, it also seems Arteta wants to further bolster his options out wide.

Rodrygo in action for Real Madrid
Defensa Central have reported that Arsenal are “in pole position” to sign Rodrygo this summer. Under new manager Xabi Alonso at the Club World Cup, the Brazilian, who has been with Real since 2019, struggled for consistent game time and this has sparked rumours about Rodrygo’s future and where it lies.

Dubbed a “complete” player by Arsenal's Mikel Merino, Rodrygo would, reportedly, want to play on the left wing were he to move to the Emirates – something, per the report, Arteta 'would be willing' to allow. Although this has always been his preferred position, Vinicius Junior’s presence at Madrid meant that Rodrygo had to feature on the opposing side for Los Blancos.
Bukayo Saka has long been Arsenal’s right-winger and if anything, Arteta should happily deploy Rodrygo on the left, given Gabriel Martinelli’s struggles for consistency in recent months. The Brazilian would be a sensational addition for Arsenal, though whether the Gunners are able to secure a deal for the winger remains to be seen.
