Daniel Farke could be about to face a difficult situation as he prepares his Leeds squad for the upcoming campaign.

The Whites have already made four additions to their ranks ahead of their return to the Premier League, but they must continue to strengthen if they want to have a chance of survival.

Leeds are keen on signing Anton Stach from Hoffenheim, while they have also taken an interest in the likes of Jeremie Boga and Nikola Krstovic.

Farke to be left with tough situation as Leeds lose out on Bizot

Leeds had also been linked with a move for Marco Bizot from Brest, in a bid to resolve their goalkeeping situation.

However, they now seem destined to lose out on him to Aston Villa, with their Premier League rivals having stolen a march on the Whites.

Bizot seems set to join the Villans imminently, after he missed Brest’s pre-season friendly on Friday (11 July), according to Le Telegramme (11 July).

A new goalkeeper is one of the top priorities at Elland Road this summer, after Farke decided to axe Illan Meslier during the latter stages of the previous campaign.

However, the Whites recently received a blow in their pursuit of Lyon’s Lucas Perri, and having now seemingly lost out on another option, Farke could be about to face a hugely awkward situation.

If the West Yorkshire outfit continue to fail to nail down their primary goalkeeping targets, it could potentially leave the difficult scenario where the German has to sheepishly turn back to Meslier.

Leeds can’t afford to turn back to Meslier

Meslier’s situation finally came to a head at Leeds last term, with the Frenchman having struggled for consistency throughout his six-year stint at the club.

Farke’s decision to drop him for Karl Darlow at the most crucial stage of the season suggests that the former Norwich boss has completely lost trust in the 25-year-old, which means that he simply cannot afford to turn back to him.

A reliable goalkeeper can be the difference between survival and relegation in the Premier League, and Meslier makes too many errors to be able to consistently win games for a side in the top flight.

With that in mind, the 49ers must do everything they can to ensure they can bring in a fresh face before the opening league game against Everton on 18 August.

If they can’t manage that, then Farke is destined to face a massively difficult situation regarding Meslier.
