Nottingham Forest’s stars enjoyed valuable pre-season minutes this afternoon as the Reds faced Chesterfield in our first game of the summer schedule.
Forest played out a goalless draw at the SMH Stadium against the Spireites, with all players in the squad getting at least 30 minutes each on the pitch.
The Reds return to Chesterfield next weekend with AS Monaco Forest’s opponents.
Callum Hudson-Odoi went close early in the scorching Chesterfield heat, when the Forest no.7’s curling effort was held by Zach Hemming in the Spireites’ goal.
With the Reds building up fitness in our pre-season opener, the home side, in their third game of pre-season so far, came closest through Armando Dobra, who tested Carlos Miguel on 21 minutes.
With half time approaching, and the temperatures not getting any cooler, Dale Taylor forced Hemming into a save from a tight angle.
The two sides went in goalless at the break with 45 valuable minutes in the tank for the Forest XI.
Forest created two quickfire chances early in the second period when second half substitute Josh Powell’s cutback found Jota in the box, but the Forest winger’s effort was well held by the Chesterfield ‘keeper.
60 seconds later, and the Reds were on the front foot once more when Hudson-Odoi’s clever pass with the outside of his boot picked out Jimmy Sinclair at the back post, only for Hemming to deny Forest once more.
Valuable minutes for the Reds who return to pre-season action next Saturday with Monaco the visitors to the SMH Stadium.
