Arsenal fans have been treated to plenty of movements from west to north London in recent times. The list of moves is growing and perhaps even occurring at faster rate than ever before.
While the record of seasons that saw a Chelsea player sign for Arsenal as of this summer stand at six in the last seven campaigns, the Gunners have taken things further this time around. Not signing just one but two for the senior squad, but what if fans learned it has effectively already become three?
Fans will know of the lost list of moves that began in 2019/20 with the signing of David Luiz, the following year witnessed Willian make a free transfer switch to the Gunners, before then, the following season in January, Jorginho arrived. Then Kai Havertz became the first big-money switch between the clubs in the Mikel Arteta era before Raheem Sterling signed on loan in last year’s deadline day.
This summer, though, has seen Kepa Arrizabalaga's release clause activated by Arsenal, and now the club have agreed a £48.5million plus £3.5million in add-ons move for Noni Maduekefootball.london understands. But that is not where the recruitment has ceased this summer with players making the switch.
Marcell Washington has been signed on a professional contract after a successful trial period, where football.london watched him make a big mark against Derby County's Under-21s, leaving former side Chelsea. Upon the confirmation of his signing, he said: "It's a very welcoming club. From day one, when I came here, I felt really welcomed. That goes from the staff to the players.
"I think it's a really big club, obviously. The club are always striving to win trophies. I'm just looking to be an addition to that and see what I can offer the club."
