Manchester City are not done in the 2025 summer transfer window.
Pep Guardiola has already seen Tijjani Reijnders added to his squad, with the Dutch star following Rayan, Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Marcus Bettinelli to Manchester last month.
The Premier League giants have not completed a signing since; however, Fabrizio Romano thinks a right-back is next on the agenda for Man City.
There might also be other bits of business City could complete ahead of the new season, as unexpected opportunities often arise in the market.
It looked like a potential opportunity may appear at Arsenal, but the Gunners are now about to shut it as the North London club are nearing an agreement over a new deal for one of their 18-year-old stars.

Arsenal are making progress on a new contract for Ethan Nwaneri
It was reported in recent weeks that Ethan Nwaneri could leave Arsenal as the youngster wanted guarantees over gametime before he put pen to paper on a new contract with his current deal expiring in 2026.

Chelsea were said to be the frontrunners if the 18-year-old decided to leave Arsenal, but Man City may have moved for Nwaneri had he made it clear that he wanted to join a new club, as Guardiola has had an interest in the English talent for some time.
That is unlikely to happen now, as Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Arsenal are closing in on a new deal for Nwaneri after the North London club presented their plan for the youngster’s development over the upcoming years.

The transfer journalist has also stated that Arsenal are hopeful that Nwaneri gives the green light to their offer soon and that it can be signed before the new season gets underway in August.
The addition of the winger to Guardiola’s squad would have been a big coup for Man City, but it is not that big a deal as the Manchester club have Cherki and Oscar Bobb, who can do the same job for many years to come.

Big season ahead for Oscar Bobb at Man City
Last season was a disaster for Bobb as the Man City star picked up a serious leg injury at the start of the campaign that would see the midfielder miss the majority of the 24/25 term.
Everyone associated with the Manchester club understands how good a player the 22-year-old is, with the Norwegian showing this again at the FIFA Club World Cup by scoring against Al Ain.
Man City don’t plan on loaning Oscar Bobb out over the summer; therefore, this season could be the player’s last chance to impress Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
The Norway international will have competition for minutes with the likes of Cherki and Phil Foden, but the 22-year-old should be relishing that challenge, as if he comes out on top, that will show him just how good a player he really is.
Man City may revisit their interest in Nwaneri further down the line, but for now, the Manchester club need to put their faith in Bobb.
