Leeds United and Napoli are vying for the services of Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic this summer.

Daniel Farke does not want Illan Meslier to be the first-choice keeper for the 2025/26 season.

The Whites need a quality stopper between the sticks in order to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Milinkovic-Savic confident of Napoli making a move for him

According to Football Italia (12 July), the 28-year-old is “confident” that Antonio Conte and his Napoli side will make a move for him before the end of the window.

This means that Milinkovic-Savic’s move to Leeds remains on hold, as he prioritises a move to the Serie A outfit.

Despite the Whites making contact, they are not the favourites to bring him to Elland Road this summer.

Napoli have obtained more information about the keeper over the weekend as they look to formalise their interest in him.

Leeds United must not pursue Milinkovic-Savic’s services

It makes sense for Leeds United to now abandon their pursuit of Milinkovic-Savic.

Given Napoli’s interest and his confidence in Conte pushing for the move, it’s evident that he’ll be happier moving to Naples.

Vojvodina 19 22 7

Ascoli 8 16 2

SPAL 3 6 1

Standard Liège 3 6 1

Should that move fall through, he would view an Elland Road transfer as a second option and would still have his heart set on moving to a title-challenging team in a top five league where he would also play Champions League football.

It’s important for the Whites to bring in players who pick them as their first choice and will be willing to give it their all.

The first season back up is always the trickiest and players would be aware of the need to go the extra mile to make things happen.
