According to transfer pundit Matteo Moretto, Juventus were offered the opportunity to sign Valentin Rongier from Olympique Marseille.

The report emerged on the YouTube channel of Moretto’s colleague Fabrizio Romano this evening.

It was noted that while this player had been mentioned during discussions between the two clubs over other names, specifically Leonardo Balerdi, it was more in terms of being offered to Juve rather than the Bianconeri showing any particular interest.

Why Rongier is not a target for Juventus

That is because the defensive midfielder turns 31 later this year and his contract with Olympique Marseille only runs to June 2026.

The Ligue 1 side is therefore eager to get him off their books before he can leave as a free agent next summer.

Rongier is also currently nursing a groin injury that he sustained in May and might struggle to be fully fit for pre-season.

All of that makes it unlikely that Juventus will press ahead with a proposal, already having their fair share of injury-prone players.
