Leeds United have made several changes to the squad this summer. Daniel Farke has added four new faces to the squad in this transfer window.
The recruitment team have addressed major areas of the squad that needed improvement. Lukas Nmecha arrives to give some depth to the attack next season. Joel Piroe played a huge load of games in the last campaign – he scored 19 goals and finished as the league’s top scorer. Despite his production in front of goal, the Dutchman’s performances have not been well received by the Elland Road crowd.

But the club have missed out on two midfield targets. Leeds were in talks with Strasbourg over a deal for Habib Diarra, however they were not willing to pay the £30million fee.
So the club set their sights on Sean Longstaff; the Newcastle man has been a target for a while with Daniel Farke a big fan of his game. However, the Magpies have been stubborn – they have turned down three bids for the 27-year old.
Joe Willock is the latest target
Talks with Newcastle have stalled as Leeds try to figure out if they will make another bid.
According to reports, the Whites are monitoring Joe Willock in the event a move for Longstaff fails to pan out. TEAMtalk recently revealed that Willock was on the club’s radar.
What can Willock bring to Leeds?
Unlike Longstaff, Willock offers a more dynamic outlet in midfield. He is more direct, and is at his best in and around the box. Eddie Howe summed up his playing style the best:
“It’s part of what his game brings [scoring big goals]. He’s got that unexpected ability to do things that you don’t necessarily know what he’s going to do. I’m sure Joe doesn’t know. He’s one of those players who acts off instinct. Those instincts are usually creative and goal driven.”

If Leeds can get a midfielder who has work rate and can score big goals, it would be a huge boost to the team next season.
