Report: 'World-class' player now in contract talks dispute with his club as Man City circle,…

Manchester City have been very busy on the transfer front this summer as Pep Guardiola looks to bring his squad back up to the highest standards.

Although Manchester City’s goalkeeping situation isn’t as much of a priority as it was six months ago, the club may well keep looking around for options.

Ederson has found himself under criticism in recent months, while Stefan Ortega didn’t make a particularly strong enough case last season to replace the Brazilian.

In addition, both players are in their 30s, so while the position is not high priority for City this summer, they may well want to act before things get worse.

It has now been reported that a “world-class” goalkeeper on City’s radar is now in a contract dispute with his club, which may well have alerted the Citizens.

Gianluigi Donnarumma and PSG in contract talks dispute

The player in question is Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was linked with City back in May.

His contract expires next summer, and talks are now under way between his camp and the club.

According to L’Equipe, PSG have offered him an arrangement where up to a third of his wages would be calculated based on how many games are played, amongst other things.

However, Donnarumma has reportedly made it clear he intends to maintain the same salary if he is to be given a new deal, especially after helping them win the Champions League.

And while the Italy international is prioritising an extension at PSG, he has no shortage of suitors, with City, Chelsea and Manchester United all in the picture.

Donnarumma is even reported to have asked teammates what the Premier League is like as he ponders a potential move.

Pep Guardiola has already delivered Gianluigi Donnarumma verdict

Guardiola is a big fan of Donnarumma, praising the PSG No.1 as far back as 2017 when the goalkeeper was just 18 years old.

The Spaniard said: “Donnarumma is a top, top goalkeeper, definitely. He’s big. He has huge skill for 18 years old.

“It would depend on him and his teammates whether he played well (in the Premier League) or not but good players can play anywhere.”

Meanwhile, Luis Enrique deemed Donnarumma “world-class” last year, as per GFFN.

At 26, Donnarumma isn’t yet at a prime age for a goalkeeper, but he is closing in on 400 competitive appearances for club and country.

He has shown he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world – and City will certainly be keen on pouncing on him if the opportunity arises.
