Exclusive: Everton and Sunderland among clubs keen on Italy international midfielder, his club is open to selling him

TBR Football can reveal that Everton and Sunderland are just two of the clubs who are pondering a move for Spezia’s Salvatore Esposito.

Everton have embarked on a major squad rebuild as they prepare for their first season at the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

Meanwhile, Sunderland have just been promoted to the Premier League and have been very active in the market, but will be hoping to strengthen their ranks further.

However, Everton and Sunderland aren’t alone, with a host of other clubs including Celtic and Rangers also circling.

Spezia open to letting Salvatore Esposito go as six Premier League clubs keen on Italy ace

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can reveal that Italy international Salvatore Esposito is being lined up for a move to England this summer.

The Spezia holding midfielder, who is the older brother of Inter Milan pair Sebastiano Esposito and Francesco Esposito, is set to move after his club’s failure to clinch promotion back to Serie A.

We can confirm that talks have taken place over a deal with Spezia for the 24-year-old and they are believed to be open to a loan with an option – but a permanent deal cannot be ruled out.

We can reveal that Brighton, Burnley, Brentford, Fulham, Everton and Sunderland are amongst the sides to have shown an interest in a possible deal for Esposito.

Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers have also been keeping tabs on the one-cap Azzurri man’s situation.

What Salvatore Esposito could bring to the Premier League

Esposito is a 24-year-old footballer who mostly plays as a defensive midfielder but has also featured at No. 8 and even at No. 10 in his career.

He has spent most of his career in Italy’s second tier, though he did play in Serie A in the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

Esposito’s one Italy cap came in June 2022, coming off the bench in the 0-0 Nations League draw with England.

As per Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig, he is a ‘brilliant’ player who boasts plenty of strengths including passing range, composure, tackling skills and set pieces.
