Eagles Must Deal With Key Question About Surviving Big-Time Changes

The Philadelphia Eagles will in 2025 kick off their fourth straight season with a different starter at right guard. Isaac Seumalo, Cam Jurgens, and Mekhi Becton are all of Philadelphia's former starters at the position and earned the starting roles well before training camp.

This year's starter is more difficult to predict.

Tyler Steen, Kenyon Green, and Trevor Keegan are all expected to compete for the starting role once camp begins later this month. While Steen could be seen as a "favorite" for the starting role, he couldn't beat out either Jurgens or Becton in his first two years prior.

He therefore has yet to show he can be a quality starter in the league. ... which means there are big-time questions amid change.

This isn't new to the Eagles; of course; Offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland has built one of the best groups in the league despite the uncertainty at right guard. ... and Philly has accomplished this feat repeatedly.

That doesn't mean Philadelphia should be comfortable just crossing its fingers here, of course. Qithout a consistent answer at the position? Eventually, the number of changes could hurt the group and its continuity.

It may seem like an overreaction because the Eagles have Pro Bowl and All-Pro talents at every other spot outside of right guard, but continuity and chemistry are so important for any offensive line group.

And the less a unit has of those two attributes, harder it is for them to continue their success from year to year.

Philadelphia has been able to overcome those concerns in recent years because the players it brought in were either Pro Bowl players in their own right, or performed at a higher level than once expected.

Can Steen, Keegan, or Green grow into one of those higher-level or even Pro Bowl guys

That remains to be seen, and that's why the right guard position will remain a key issue for Philly to solve at camp and in 2025.
