Drake and LeBron James were once known for sharing a close bond — the rapper and NBA superstar frequently praised each other in interviews, courtside appearances, and even in Drake’s lyrics. But that friendship has taken a hit in recent months, all sparked by Drake’s high-profile feud with fellow Hip-Hop artiste Kendrick Lamar.
The tension between the two superstars grew when James, on several occasions, was caught on camera singing and dancing to lyrics from Kendrick Lamar’s diss records toward Drake during the rap battle that dominated headlines last year. James was infamously among the spectators at Kendrick’s “Pop Out” show in June, vibing while the rapper performed his hit single “Not Like Us.”
The show of support was seen by many as a subtle betrayal — and Drake wasted no time unfollowing James on Instagram while throwing sly shots in a song titled “Fighting Irish Freestyle” released earlier in the year.
That simmering beef took another twist on Saturday when Drake sent an unmistakable message on stage. Performing at the Wireless Festival in the United Kingdom, he tweaked the lyrics to his hit single Non-Stop, which originally paid homage to James’ iconic jersey numbers.
The new line — “How I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron” — instantly set social media ablaze.
“My Rap GOAT beefing my Sports GOAT,” one fan wrote.
“He stays cooking Bron 😭,” another fan added.
“Bron watching this like: You just made me pick a side,” another fan remarked.
“Man really in his feelings about LeBron,” a fourth fan added.
“Bronny get in the booth!!” another fan joked.
“Why you gotta switch up on him, Bron,” another fan questioned.
While the latest diss writes another chapter of the rift between the two stars, it's not the first time Drake dissed James this month as he also recently threw subtle jabs at the Los Angeles Lakers star in his latest single “What Did I Miss.”
