NFL Flag Football looks to expand across Ncwv

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - NFL Flag Football has risen in popularity across North Central West Virginia through the help of ROAR Sports.

The organization aims to help youth become spiritually nourished and athletically encouraged. After a successful spring season at the Bridge they are looking to expand throughout the area.

“ROAR Sports Central plays here at the Bridge. ROAR Sports South is our Lewis County league we play at Lewis County Park there so we’ll see when it grows down there as it does in NFL Flag,” President & Founder Jaycen Saab said.

“Flag football in general is one of the top growing youth sports right now in the country as well as female sports. It’s a freight train getting more and more momentum every year. The folks in the Lewis County football league asked if we would come down there and help them get it going so we opened up a second league down there that started last year and it’s continuing to grow and the excitement is building for our second season there this fall.”

NFL Flag football brings opportunities to community youth other rec leagues can’t. With no geographical restriction to join signing up is easy.

“The kids come out and they have officially licensed jerseys and through the NFL because we are a licensed league there are other opportunities we have,” Saab said.

“I just got back from the summit in Dallas back in December the national summit. And through that had some contacts now so we’re getting ready to take the kids down on a trip to see the Ravens training camp in Maryland. Roarsportswv.com and on their available programs you can choose roar central which is here in Bridgeport or ROAR South which is in Weston and also for those in need we do an in house kind of fundraising so as a non-profit we offer scholarships for kids that need them and then this year by God’s grace we have been blessed enough to offer free registration to any kids in the foster care system.”
