Less than a week before Cleveland Browns rookies report to training camp in Berea, second-round pick Quinshon Judkins, out of Ohio State, has been arrested. Judkins was arrested on Saturday in Ft Lauderdale. The description of the charges reads "Touch or Strike/Battery/Domestic Viol." He is awaiting arraignment before formal charges are brought. Judkins will have his initial court appearance on Sunday, July 13th.
At this time, that is all the information we have about the situation, although I'm sure the team will make a public announcement about it soon. Personally, this comes as a surprise, as there were no legitimate red flags about Judkins that popped up during the draft process. Everyone who knows the player and has talked about his character praises it.
Another thing worth noting in this situation is that Judkins is one of the 30 remaining second-round picks to be unsigned as training camps start opening in the next week, including the Los Angeles Chargers, whose rookies have already reported, with their second-round pick still unsigned.
Judkins was to be part of a new era in the backfield for the Browns, who let former superstar Nick Chubb walk after drafting both Judkins in the second and Dylan Sampson in the fourth round out of Tennessee.
