Former Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins arrested on domestic violence charge

Quinshon Judkins, who played an integral role as a running back during Ohio State's 2024 national championship season, was arrested on a domestic violence and battery charge in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Saturday, according to [Fort Lauderdale Police department and Broward County arrest records](https://apps.sheriff.org/ArrestSearch/InmateDetail/572502182).

Judkins was reportedly still in jail in Broward County following his arrest. He would be scheduled to make his first court appearance on Sunday. His charge was listed as "touch or strike/battery/domestic violence". There were no further details available about the nature of Judkins' arrest as of 10 p.m. Saturday night.

Judkins, who transferred to OSU following two seasons at Ole Miss, was one of two 1,000-yard rushers for the Buckeyes during the 2024 championship season. He helped OSU cap the season with three touchdowns in the College Football Playoff national championship game win over Notre Dame.

He declared for the 2025 National Football League draft and was selected in the second round by the Cleveland Browns with the 36th overall pick.

Cleveland.com reported the Browns said they are "are aware and gathering more details," according to a team spokesperson.

The Browns took the 5-11, 221-pound Judkins with the expectation he would take over as the team's lead running back in 2025. The team allowed veteran Nick Chubb to walk away in free agency as Chubb signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Houston Texans.

However, Judkins is the only member of the Browns' seven-man draft class who had not signed his rookie contract. The team will open training camp later this month.

Judkins, a native of Pike Road, Ala., burst on the scene with 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns as a freshman at Ole Miss in 2022. He then went for 1,158 yards and 15 TDs as a sophomore with the Rebels in 2023.

He came to Ohio State, where he worked in a tandem with returning starter TreVeyon Henderson. Judkins carried 194 times for 1,060 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. He also caught a pair of touchdowns among 22 receptions as the Buckeyes went 14-2 and won the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff national championship in 2024.
