Leeds United make huge call on 21-year-old – Summer exit looms

Leeds United have already done some decent business in the ongoing summer transfer window, but some major moves at Elland Road are still pending. A few players are expected to leave the club before the window slams shut at the end of August.

Contrary to what the fans think, Leeds have brought in some decent players already in the ongoing summer transfer window. The Whites have added much-needed quality and depth to their attack and defence before the pre-season fixtures begin at the end of next week.

However, they are expected to splash big money on a striker, a number 10, a winger and another goalkeeper before the window slams shut at the end of next month.

But the 49ers want to be careful about the Premier League’s PSR regulations and are expected to move on a few players soon to streamline the squad before the end of the transfer window.

Arrival of a new striker will see Mateo Joseph leave Leeds United this summer

Journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed Leeds are not panicking about the arrival of a new striker and are closely monitoring developments while holding an interest in forwards such as Josh Sargent, Callum Wilson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

He insisted that he still expects Mateo Joseph to move on from Leeds before the end of the transfer window, given his place in the pecking order at Elland Road.

“Josh Sargent is still one that’s very much on their radar. Burnley are also very interested, they like him an awful lot”, Bailey told TBR Football.

“Leeds aren’t panicking, they’re letting the market come to them.

“They’re one of the teams that’s held talks with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and they’ve talked to Callum Wilson at various points this summer too.

“Leeds are one of those teams that already have a decent squad, and they’ve done what they need to do so far.

“Even if the season started tomorrow, they wouldn’t be desperately disappointed with what they have.

“They haven’t let Mateo Joseph go yet, which may be telling, but I still expect him to go.

“They’re being sensible with what they’re doing and seeing what comes to them.”

Joseph and Leeds need to part ways this summer

The striker started last season as the first-choice number 9 at Elland Road, but it quickly became apparent that he was not ready to lead the line for the Whites.

Joseph struggled to score goals, and Joep Piroe replacing him in the team was not a surprise. Leeds had a chance to sell him in the winter window, but declined an offer from Spain.

The Spaniard will report for pre-season late, but is expected to hold talks over his future with Farke and the rest of the Leeds hierarchy once he returns to the club this summer.

With Leeds likely to sign a striker sometime in the coming weeks, Joseph’s departure from Elland Road looks like a foregone conclusion at the moment.
