Jonathan Kuminga is likely to re-sign with the Warriors on a short-term deal amid a limited trade market, with the possibility of being moved before the 2026 deadline.
Forward Jonathan Kuminga is likely to return to the Golden State Warriors.
According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Warriors' ownership group—led by Joe Lacob—remains committed to keeping Kuminga on a new deal.
Rival executives anticipate that Kuminga will re-sign with Golden State, though there's an understanding he could be traded before the 2026 trade deadline.
"There isn't a market for him right now, which is why a short-term reunion between Kuminga and the Warriors could be beneficial for both sides," Siegel wrote.
"To be perfectly clear, no sweepstakes really exists here," the insider added. "The Warriors had hoped there would be a straightforward path to substitute out Kuminga for a young talent and draft assets in a sign-and-trade. That no longer appears to be the case."

Despite speculation, Siegel reports that the Sacramento Kings were never close to finalizing a sign-and-trade for Kuminga. The Miami Heat were also loosely linked to him early in the offseason, but those talks didn't progress.
Teams like the Utah Jazz, Brooklyn Nets, and Charlotte Hornets were mentioned as possible suitors in restricted free agency, but conversations at the NBA Summer League indicate none are actively pursuing Kuminga, per the same report.
With only nine players currently under contract, the Warriors are expected to make additional moves once Kuminga's return is secured.
Last season, the 22-year-old averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He has played four seasons with the Warriors.
