Reports suggest the team is planning to move on from him by spring 2026. There are also claims that the Lakers didn't properly inform LeBron about the Anthony Davis trade and failed to communicate with him regarding the franchise's recent ownership sale.

LeBron, however, has kept quiet publicly.

During a court-side appearance at the Las Vegas Summer League game between the Lakers and Pelicans — where his son Bronny was playing — he declined ESPN's invitation to discuss his situation.

"I ain't got nothing to talk about," he reportedly told the network.

According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, four NBA teams have recently reached out to LeBron's agent, Rich Paul, to explore potential trade opportunities.

Still, the 40-year-old superstar hasn't requested a trade. He holds a no-trade clause in his contract, giving him full control over any potential move.

Though, signs are pointing to a fading future with the LA Lakers.

The franchise didn't offer him a contract extension this offseason, excluded him from key decisions like the ownership change, and has reportedly shifted its focus to long-term planning — particularly around Luka Doncic — instead of maximizing LeBron's current championship window.

James opted in to his $52.6 million player option for the 2025–26 season, making this the final year of his contract — a first in his legendary career.
