Report: Liverpool now want to sign £75m star who’s been in ‘constant contact’ with Arsenal this summer

Liverpool are showing keen interest in an attacking talent who’s been firmly on Arsenal’s radar all summer long.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool side ultimately beat Arsenal quite comfortably to the Premier League title last term, maintaining a 10 point gap with all said and done.

And part of the reason for the Reds’ dominance was the amount of goals they scored — Liverpool’s 86 strikes in 38 games went far beyond the 69 Arsenal managed.

As a result, Mikel Arteta is striving to improve his attack this summer, hence Arsenal’s push to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

But the Gunners are also in the mix for a new left winger, and that is where Liverpool might rival Arteta’s team for their ‘dream’ target.

Liverpool join Arsenal in the race to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid

According to Spanish source AS, Liverpool have now joined the race to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid.

Rodrygo has been one of the stars of the show for Real Madrid in recent years, a player who has arguably been as important as the likes of Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham at times.

However, the Brazilian’s stock has fallen since the arrival of Kylian Mbappe last summer, and new manager Xabi Alonso also seems to prefer Arda Guler in a wide role.

Therefore, Liverpool have joined Arsenal and Bayern Munich in expressing interest in Rodrygo according to the report, who now describe the race for the Brazilian as a ‘raffle’.

TBR Football recently shared that Arsenal have been in ‘constant contact’ to sign Rodrygo this summer, and their sporting director Andrea Berta is very keen to recruit the 24-year-old.

But with uncertainty over Luis Diaz’s future at Liverpool, Slot’s side are now taking a keen interest in Rodrygo, who has recently expressed his desire to play as a left winger next season.

Arsenal’s Noni Madueke move might open the door for Liverpool to sign Rodrygo

TBR Football understands that Rodrygo will cost around £75m this summer, a two-time Champions League winner who can justify such a lofty price tag.

But with Liverpool interested in Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, it remains to be seen if the Reds will also spend big on a left winger.

On Arsenal’s part, a move for Rodrygo looks like a no-brainer, assuming Arteta’s side can afford to recruit another wide player after signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

Madueke is expected to provide cover on both wings and also compete for a starting role on the left of Arsenal’s attack, a position that might yet be filled by Rodrygo.

But if Arsenal end up with Madueke and Liverpool steal in to sign Rodrygo, there might be more than one unhappy fan in north London.
