What Mikel Arteta has said
Arsenal boss Arteta said at the end of last season: “Everything that is planned for preseason and the first few weeks of the season has already been done two or three months ago, so we are now really good. And the moment I start to think about that, I feel goosebumps and excitement, and this is a really good sign always."
He added: “I'm very happy to finish [the season] winning the match," Arteta said. "We wanted to leave that dressing room with a positive energy, with a good vibe. We had to say goodbye as well to a few players that won't be with us next season, that was quite emotional as well, I think they deserved their appreciation and a good vibe around it.
"We've done it and now we're going to have plenty of time to think, to analyse what happens in the season, to learn from it for sure, to take all the incredible positive things that the team has done regarding the circumstances and think, okay, how can we now go into that little percentage that is missing to get where we want."
What Enzo Maresca has said
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said at the end of last season: “I didn’t have any doubts about the players. The doubt was from outside,” said the head coach, who was taking charge of his first top-flight campaign. All the ones that have the answer and the truth, they were saying we were too young, we were not good enough.
“They were waiting for [Aston] Villa to drop points if we wanted to achieve Champions League. They were saying we were not able to win on this pitch because we were too young and not experienced. Unfortunately for them they are all wrong, all the ones who have the truth and the answer for everything. So in English, I will say ‘eff off’ to all of them.”
What Thomas Frank has said
New Spurs boss Thomas Frank said upon arriving at the club: “Huge congratulations to the Club, to the team (for the Europa League triumph). Huge congratulations to Ange (Postecoglou) - I think Ange has done something special. He’ll forever be a legend in Tottenham.
“It’s important to understand we all stand on the shoulders of others. I’m going in on the foundation Ange built, and his coaching staff, and I’m very humble about that. I’ll do my very best to continue the great work he put in. The feeling, the excitement, the joy and the happiness in the fans’ faces, the pictures—was ‘wow’. Hopefully, we can create more of those moments. That will be the ultimate dream: to do that and build on that.”
