Anthony Elanga has surprisingly not named Newcastle United player William Osula as his best friend in football just a couple of days after his move from Nottingham Forest was confirmed.
Fans rejoiced when the announcement finally came; it was a moment they had been waiting almost two years for.
Anthony Elanga is officially a Newcastle United player after the club announced his signing on a five-year deal from Nottingham Forest. Elanga has spoken about being successful at Newcastle and ensuring that he does everything he can to be recognised as a legend on Tyneside.
Elsewhere, Eddie Howe shared his delight at signing Elanga. He is a player the 47-year-old has been interested in for over a year, so to finally land him is certainly a bonus.
Newcastle will prioritise a striker after Elanga, with a goalkeeper and centre-back also on the shopping list.
Elanga took some quickfire questions upon signing and in the video he gave an answer which William Osula will be far from pleased about.

William Osula is not Anthony Elanga’s best friend
In his first official interview with the club, Elanga shared details about his relationship with Osula. The pair are great friends off the pitch and were seen with each other during the post-season break.
Elanga regularly comments on Osula’s Instagram posts, and vice versa. Doing things such as this would naturally make fans believe the pair are best friends. However, Elanga shockingly named someone else instead of him.

On a quickfire questions YouTube video, Elanga was asked to name his best friend in football. He said, “Got a few again, Teden Mengi.”
Mengi, who now plays for Luton Town, played alongside Elanga during their youth days at Manchester United. It is also the same way Elanga and Osula met. The Dane had trials with the Red Devils when he was 12 and became closer to Elanga as the years progressed.
Osula surely will not be too fussed about not being Elanga’s best friend. The pair will have a brilliant relationship on the pitch either way.
Anthony Elanga names Newcastle United star as the best he’s played against
Elanga has been on the opposing side of games between Newcastle and Nottingham Forest in recent years. The Sweden international featured in the Premier League games last season, and played in a penalty loss in the Carabao Cup last August.
The game at the City Ground was the first win in a historic cup run for the Magpies which saw them lift the trophy at Wembley in March.
While a Newcastle player may not be his best friend in football, he still recognised one Toon star for how good he has been against them.
The Swede named fellow international teammate Alexander Isak as the best player he has played against. Isak was a big part of Newcastle’s important 4-3 win against Forest in February. A game which started the tides turning and getting Newcastle closer to Champions League qualification.
