Stina steers Sweden to top of Group C at Euro 2025

Stina Blackstenius scored the equalising goal as Sweden came from behind to beat Germany 4-1 in their final group game of UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 on Saturday.

After Jule Brand opened the scoring, our forward had acres of space to burst through on goal and slot into the bottom left corner for 1-1.

Smilla Hilma Holmberg and Fridolina Rolfo put Sweden 3-1 up before half-time, and former Gunner Lina Hurtig then added a fourth late on.

"I'm very happy that I've gained the confidence to play and I am happy with the goal that we got here today, but mainly because of the win today and that we are still in the tournament," Blackstenius told reporters.

”I don't want to stand here and say that I prefer any of the teams [in the quarter-final] - it's an incredibly good team, no matter who we face, so it will be very exciting to see how it ends [in Group D], and then we will continue to prepare ourselves, regardless of which team we play against.

"I enjoy being at championships. It's something extra to experience. There's something with these games that makes it extra special," she added.

"When I look up at our fans today, I think they're very visible, and it also gives a feeling that we're doing this together. There's a lot that drives me in the whole set-up, with all the support and knowing that there are family and friends here."

With three wins from three, eight goals scored and just one conceded, Sweden finished top of Group C on maximum points, three clear of Germany.

They will face the runner up of Group D in the quarter-final at 8pm BST on Thursday, July 17.

That opponent will be decided today following crunch fixtures between England and Wales as well as Netherlands and France.
