West Ham are in need of accelerating their summer transfer business.

Graham Potter will be growing frustrated at the lack of transfer activity at the London Stadium, just over a month away from the Premier League season opener against Sunderland.

So far, the Hammers are yet to make any real progress on the recruitment front, though that is expected to change following the sale of Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham.

With that said, the Irons are looking to get one over on Spurs amid the latest exit update on Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Palhinha set to leave Bayern amid Premier League interest

Replacing Kudus will be a priority for West Ham, though they will be just as intent on bolstering other areas of their squad with the transfer fee received.

Bayern’s Palhinha has been linked with a move to the Hammers, with a report from Caught Offside (13 July) stating that he is looking likely to return to the Premier League this summer, and could cost as little as £26million.

Palhinha struggled for gametime in the Bundesliga.

Tottenham and Manchester United are also keen on the midfielder, who only left Fulham last year in a deal worth over £40m.

While it may be ambitious, if West Ham can win the race for his signature, they would be able to exact their revenge on Spurs for stealing one of their most prized assets in Kudus.

The Irons are believed to be set to enter talks with the Bundesliga outfit imminently.

West Ham are stumbling this summer

After such a poor campaign last time out, it was evident that West Ham needed to make the most of the summer window, and as of yet, they haven’t achieved that.

In comparison to Sunderland, who they face in the first game of the season, who have already spent over £100M in a bid to bolster their own squad.

Time is still on their side, though it will be crucial to see those plans accelerated in the coming days and weeks.
