Man United and Everton are in the race to sign Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi in a deal which has been branded the “bargain of the summer”.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 28-year-old midfielder’s future and the £9million release clause in his contract.
A host of clubs have been put on alert by his situation and are prepared to make a move as he is now expected to leave Leicester.
This comes after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 3 July that Everton will reignite their interest in Ndidi this summer.
The Toffees missed out on a deal when he put pen to paper at the King Power Stadium last year, but now face growing competition for his signature.
Alongside Everton and Man United, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Juventus are all believed to have joined the race to sign the Nigeria international.

Wilfred Ndidi set to leave Leicester as Everton and Man United race
The Toffees’ interest has been long-standing, after Football Insider revealed in June 2024 that Everton wanted to sign Ndidi as a free agent when his contract expired.
Following Leicester’s relegation back to the Championship, his £9million release clause has made it increasingly likely that the midfielder will leave the King Power.
O’Rourke explained that a number of top clubs both domestically and abroad have joined the race, with no clear front-runner as things stand.
“I think he will leave Leicester this summer,” he told Football Insider.
“Obviously, this release clause in there makes it easier for clubs to try an sign Ndidi.
“I think it could be one of the bargains of the transfer window due to that £9million release clause.
“I’m not surprised Everton have been having a look at him.
“There’s also interest from Crystal Palace, Fulham and Manchester United as well.
“There will also be interest from abroad, as Juventus are very much interested in the midfielder.”

Wesley Franca update emerges at Brighton hijack on the cards
David Moyes is planning for a busy transfer window at the Dickinson Hill Stadium, with a number of key positions on his radar including at right-back.
Brown told Football Insider on 9 July that Everton want to sign Flamengo star Wesley Franca and are prepared to hijack Brighton’s £20million move.
While his reported asking price may be pricey for the Toffees, there is a feeling that he would be a long-term investment in a key area of the pitch.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 24 April that Everton are prioritising signing a right-back amid concerns about Seamus Coleman’s longevity.
