Carlos Miguel has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Palmeiras goalkeeper Weverton, following criticism over his recent performance in the Club World Cup.
The suggestion came from journalist Leandro Quesada [during an appearance on a broadcast by Placar magazine](https://br.bolavip.com/palmeiras/carlos-miguel-substituindo-imediatamente-weverton-no-palmeiras-apos-falhas-no-mundial-e-aprovado-por-jornalista).
Palmeiras were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the tournament after a 2–1 defeat to Chelsea. Weverton was at the centre of attention for his role in the second goal, failing to deal with a deflected cross late in the match. That led to renewed debate over his status as the club’s first-choice keeper.
Quesada believes it’s time for a change between the posts and suggested that Carlos Miguel, currently at Nottingham Forest, would be a strong candidate to take over.
“I would bring in a goalkeeper. You know who? Carlos Miguel,” he said. “He’s a player that Brazilian football should look at more carefully, unless there’s some off-field issue we don’t know about that could get in the way of his promising career.”
Carlos Miguel, 25, left Corinthians earlier this year to join Forest, but has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Premier League side.
Despite signing a long-term deal, he remains on the fringes of the squad and has struggled for playing time behind Matt Turner and Matz Sels.
With Weverton under pressure and Carlos Miguel seeking more regular minutes, the scenario could open a door for potential movement – but for now, it remains a matter of speculation from the Brazilian media.
