Darko Kovačević played for Juventus between 1999 and 2001, scoring 11 goals for the club, before leaving for a more difficult spell at Lazio.
The 51-year-old is long retired from playing the game although he does do some work for Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis and his Greek club Olympiacos, where the striker also played.
Kovačević has been speaking to [Gazzetta dello Sport](http://gazzetta.it) about his compatriot Dušan Vlahović, and suggested Manchester United could provide a good platform. The Juventus striker has less than a year left of contract and there’s been renewal drama after the Turin club offered a much reduced wage for any new contract.
Like multiple clubs in Serie A, Juventus went through a stage of giving out bumper deals and have since regretted it.
Vlahović scored 17 goals in 44 matches last season, following from 18 in 38 the season before for the 25-year-old. He’s very much available for transfer and Kovačević believes Manchester United could be an answer, he then named Nottingham Forest but appeared to dismiss that as him joking around.
Gazzetta dello Sport quote Kovačević as saying: _“I’d say to Dušan to move on immediately. It’s not easy to leave Juventus, I say this from personal experience, but sometimes you have to get back in the game to get back to being happy and at the top. Someone like Vlahović must always be a starter, at Juventus or elsewhere.”_
And on which club would suit the player best: _“We can’t afford him at Olympiacos, but Milan and Manchester United would be good options for Dušan. And maybe Nottingham Forest… That’s a joke: we’re owned by the same club as the English club, but I only work for Olympiacos.”_
Manchester United certainly need a striker added to their squad and if Dušan Vlahović is available on a discount deal then he may be a consideration.
