Report: £10m Wolves player 'high' on Burnley's transfer list, he's ready to leave Molineux

More players could be on the way out of Wolves despite several confirmed exits so far this summer.

It has been a summer of departures up to now, with a string of players either leaving at the end of their contracts, being sold or heading out on loan.

Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Pablo Sarabia are the three big confirmed exits up to now.

And more likely than not, Nelson Semedo will be another big-name player to go.

Semedo has been training alone at a different location, while the Wolves squad have been together in Portugal.

But there could be even more exits for Wolves soon.

And there could actually be two goalkeepers on their way out.

It’s been suggested Jose Sa is now a target for Turkish giants Galatasaray, who are mulling over a £20 million swoop.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Sa was targeted by Chelsea last summer, but a move did not materialise.

But there has also been a lot of speculation over the future of Sam Johnstone, who struggled for game time in 2024/25.

Johnstone has been linked with Sunderland this summer, with the Black Cats having had a busy window so far.

But another of the newly promoted clubs are eyeing Johnstone, with Burnley now linked.

Alan Nixon has reported via The Sun that Johnstone is ‘high up’ on Scott Parker’s shortlist, with their number one James Trafford potentially set to leave.

Johnstone keen to leave Wolves

It has not worked out for Johnstone at Wolves, and the club should consider offers for him this summer.

Perhaps it would be a stretch to get back the £10 million (BBC Sport) that was initially paid.

But Johnstone – who is currently with the Wolves squad in Portugal having not been spotted in any photos at first – just did not convince last season, and he cannot sit on the bench again next term given the finances that we invested in him. He is simply too expensive to be a number two.

Sam Johnstone for Wolves (2024-present)

Appearances – 10

Minutes played – 930

Clean sheets – 1

Goals conceded – 19

It was reported earlier this summer that Johnstone is keen to leave Wolves.

That is hardly a surprise given how it’s gone for him.

The situation with Trafford at Burnley is now one to keep an eye on for Wolves fans. If he completes a move to Newcastle, as is currently being touted, then that could well be the catalyst for Johnstone to leave Molineux.
