Manchester United are continuing to be linked with a move for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.
United have been holding talks with the Bees for several weeks over a deal to bring the Cameroon international to Old Trafford. Two bids have already been rejected from United by Brentford, but there is still confidence that a deal can be agreed in the near future.
The second bid from United was believed to be worth more than £60million, which also included add-ons. An agreement is yet to be reached for United to sign the 25-year-old, an now a fresh update has emerged about Mbeumo's future.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that United are holding "active talks" with Brentford as they aim to complete a deal for Mbeumo. The report also claims that United are hoping to reach an agreement to complete the transfer by the end of next week.
Tottenham Hotspur were also mentioned earlier in the summer as having an interest in signing Mbeumo. Now, though, United are seen as the clear front runners, with the player himself viewing Old Trafford as his preferred destination.
Mbeumo enjoyed an impressive season with Brentford last term, scoring 20 goals in all competitions, all of which came in the Premier League. It's that form which has seen the Bees apparently place a £63million valuation on the forward, which is believed to be wanted in an up front fee rather than inclusive with add-ons.
United have already made one new signing so far this summer, with Matheus Cunha arriving from Wolves in a £62.5million deal. Mbeumo is now United's priority transfer target, but it remains to be seen if an agreement will be reached.
