FC Barcelona have been working on several projects this summer and each of them are important. For a club with a financial predicament as obvious as theirs, certain difficult decisions have to be made. Fortunately, it appears that Barcelona have an idea about what they are planning to do.
At the moment, the club is already expecting certain players to leave this summer and other operations are being assessed more thoroughly. After all, Barcelona now want to bring in another major acquisition this summer following the arrival of Joan Garcia.
One of the names that has been heavily linked to the club in recent weeks is that of Marcus Rashford. The 27-year-old English forward remains a key target for Barcelona due to the benefits he could provide from a sporting perspective and the feasibility of acquiring him as well, and reports have claimed that Hansi Flick has already given his green light as well.
Rashford and Manchester United to hold meeting
BARCELONA, SPAIN - MARCH 11: Hansi Flick, Head Coach of FC Barcelona, looks on prior to the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Round of 16 Second Leg match between FC Barcelona and SL Benfica at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on March 11, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

On that note, a big development could take place in the coming hours or days. According to the latest information provided by SPORT, the English winger and his club Manchester United are set to hold an important meeting soon to finalise the structure of his potential transfer.
As per the report, the English club is now aware that their asking price for the player might be a little too high for any realistic suitor to consider. Moreover, considering that the player reportedly is not on board with going off to Saudi Arabia, it makes sense as to why Manchester United would now start to doubt the arrival of a possible transfer fee in that range.
A loan deal would be ideal for Barcelona
Instead, the club might need to consider a loan deal with a possible option to buy attached to the end of the operation. By doing so, the Premier League side might just be able to attract more suitors for the player and have a better variety of customers to choose from.
However, if they do so, Barcelona clearly has an upper hand in terms of personal negotiations. The 27-year-old winger reportedly dreams of joining the Catalan side this summer, and that could play a huge role in reducing the overall cost of the operation including the player’s salary.
Yet, with reports suggesting that Italian giants Juventus are also interested in the player, Barça may need to be careful. While they might have some time to assess the operation more thoroughly, they might want to pick up the speed, especially if they truly believe that both Rashford and Luis Diaz can be pursued simultaneously this summer.
