Fabrizio Romano says Everton have made contact to sign 'lethal' star, he will move this summer

Everton have reportedly made an approach for PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko, but face competition from clubs in the Premier League and the Bundesliga.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Bakayoko is on the Toffees' radar and that they have made contact regarding a potential deal for the Belgian attacker. PSV are prepared to cash in on the 22-year-old who has a year left on his contract.

Bakayoko's stock has risen at State Farm Arena, flourishing on the right wing and becoming one of Dutch football's most coveted attackers. He is entering the final year of his current deal and the Eredivisie giants are under pressure to sell or risk losing him on a free next summer.

Bakayoko was close to arriving in the English top-flight with Brentford last summer after the Bees lodged a club-record £34m offer. He decided to turn down the London outfit and instead see out another season with PSV.

Interest in the 18-cap Belgium international has continued to grow, and Everton are among the clubs who have made approaches, as per Romano:

"PSV Eindhoven are set to sell Johan Bakayoko as they’ve received five approaches for the winger. RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth have all called to open discussions. Request around €20m add-ons included."

David Moyes is looking to build on a promising start to his return to the Merseyside outfit and the club have already made two new signings. French striker Thierno Barry arrived from Villarreal in a £26.7m deal, while Carlos Alcaraz's loan was made permanent for an undisclosed fee.

Everton's interest in Bakayoko, who Breaking The Lines calls 'lethal', comes after Jack Harrison returned to Leeds United following a loan spell at Goodison Park. He ticks all the right boxes for Moyes with his pace and confidence on the ball, registering an impressive 14 goals and as many assists in 48 games in the 2023-24 season.

Bakayoko explained his decision to reject Brentford by stating that he didn't want to join a "mid-table club". It remains to be seen whether that will have any implications on a potential switch to the Merseyside outfit as he has European competing Nottingham Forest and Bayer Leverkusen also chasing his signature.
