£22m Leeds United target set for West Ham medical – But Whites already covered

Leeds United are looking to bring in a few more players in the coming weeks as they prepare to return to the Premier League next season. The Whites are aware that they will need more quality in their squad in key areas to have a chance of survival in the top flight.

The Yorkshire giants have done some decent business, bringing in as many as four new faces to add more depth and quality to their squad this summer. However, more is needed in the coming weeks to ensure Daniel Farke has the tools to keep the club in the Premier League.

Leeds have been careful about not overpaying any players, but that has led to the club missing out on a few key targets, with Sunderland being the main beneficiaries so far in the ongoing transfer window.

It seems the Whites are now on the cusp of losing out on another player the club have tracked, but importantly, Leeds have already brought in cover for a key area of the squad.

Leeds United target El Hadji Malick Diouf scheduled for West Ham medical

El Hadji Malick Diouf turned heads with his performance for Senegal in their 3-1 win over England last month, and it attracted the attention of Premier League clubs.

Leeds joined the race to sign him earlier this month after West Ham failed with a bid for him, but it seems he is now on his way to London.

According to French journalist Santi Aouna, a deal is now in place between the Hammers and the Czech Republic side Slavia Prague for Diouf’s transfer.

He will be in action for Slavia Prague later today, but it will be his last game for the club as he prepares to say goodbye to his teammates.

It has been claimed that Diouf will undergo a medical at West Ham next week ahead of joining the Premier League in a deal worth around £22m this summer.

No panic at Elland Road

No one at Leeds is losing sleep over losing out on Diouf as the club have already brought in a player to cover for the position he would have played in.

A versatile player, the Slavia Prague star is seen as a marauding left-back, and Leeds have already signed Gabriel Gudmundsson for that position.

West Ham were always the favourites to sign Diouf, and Leeds only considered a deal when the Hammers were struggling to agree on a fee with the Czech side.

Leeds have other priorities in the market, and are focused on signing a goalkeeper, a striker, a number 10 and another winger before trying to get a deal done for another left-back.
