Liverpool have added much-needed depth to their left-back department this summer.
Whilst Andrew Robertson has been a terrific servant to the club, concerns were raised on numerous times last season about his consistency dropping.
Milos Kerkez has arrived from Bournemouth after arguably being the best left-back in the league this season and he is seen as a fantastic acquisition by the club.
He will prove to be the long-term successor of Robertson at Liverpool as the potential is clear to see despite him only being 21 years of age.
Before Milos Kerkez though, Liverpool had their eye on many players, with Slavia Prague left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf on that list.
The Senegalese defender was first linked to Liverpool back in January as the club began to make moves to provide Arne Slot with reliable competition for Robertson.
The focus revolved around signing a player who could offer the same level of speed and creativity that we have become so used to seeing from Robertson over the years.
Diouf is a player who provides just that, as he very much has both of those attributes in abundance.
The 20-year-old left-back even addressed the rumours linking him to Liverpool back in January, saying:
“I don’t know if that is true (about Liverpool). Yes, it sounds nice, but would I play for Liverpool? Would I fit in there? For me, it is essential that I don’t stop. It is difficult to move from the substitutes’ bench. I need to play.”
However, with Kerkez arriving at Liverpool instead, Liverpool interest in him ended and he is now heading to London after West Ham finalised a deal to sign him.
Santi Aouna has reported that a full agreement has been reached between Slavia Prague and West Ham for the signing of El Hadji Malick Diouf.
He will undergo his medical next week with the Hammers.
