Everton are looking to sign Douglas Luiz, with David Moyes apparently drawn to the player for a couple of reasons in particular.
Everton are in the market for a new midfielder, after losing Abdoulaye Doucoure and Orel Mangala.
David Moyes was able to keep hold of Idrissa Gana Gueye, to the delight of fans.
But it’s been suggested Moyes would like to rely less on Gueye in 2025/26, so at least one new face will be arriving.
And in recent days, speculation has been suggesting Everton could move for Douglas Luiz, who is set to leave Juventus summer after just one season.
Juventus are looking at replacements for Luiz, and Everton could bring the Brazilian back to England – and a report has now shared a couple of things about Luiz that is attracting Moyes.

Luiz struggled in 2024/25, after joining Juve for over £40 million from Aston Villa.
Injuries didn’t help his cause, and the Italian giants are already looking to offload him, in an acknowledgment that the move hasn’t worked out.

But if Luiz can return to the levels he showed in his final season at Villa, then £21.5 million would be a total bargain for anyone.
TEAMtalk have reported about Luiz today, and it’s outlined why Moyes is keen to swoop – and there are two reasons in particular. Those being:
His previous Premier League experience
His quality on the ball
Luiz has made 175 appearances in the Premier League with Aston Villa, and 204 in total for them.
And with 22 goals and 24 assists for the Villans, there is a clear indication of on-the-ball quality.

Luiz did not have the season he was hoping for in 2024/25, but that doesn’t mean Everton should do their utmost to sign him.
It is little surprise that Moyes likes the fact he is a proven performer in the Premier League.
That counts for a lot, with Everton looking to push up the table in 2025/26.
The Toffees pretty much know what they would be getting with him, and he really wouldn’t be too much of a gamble at just over £20 million.

As well as his quality on the ball, there is also the notion that Luiz will be a determined figure in 2025/26.
After a poor campaign he’ll be desperate to remind people how good he can be, and he will also want to stay in the Brazil squad.
Shining with Everton in the Premier League, as opposed to staying and struggling at Juve where it hasn’t been working out, is surely something he needs to consider, with a World Cup taking place next year.
