Joelinton is nearing a Newcastle United return from injury and has welcomed new boy Anthony Elanga.
Joelinton is happy Anthony Elanga has joined Newcastle United after competing against him for consecutive Premier League seasons.
Toon chiefs finally landed a transfer breakthrough on Friday when Anthony Elanga arrived from Nottingham Forest. A right-winger had been a target for several windows and Newcastle got their man for £55million.
That makes him the club’s second-most-expensive player - joint with Sandro Tonali but behind Alexander Isak. Eddie Howe is a long-term admirer and Elanga has proven himself against Newcastle before.

He famously ripped the Magpies apart on Boxing Day 2023 - bagging two assists in a game best known for Chris Wood’s hat-trick. Elanga scored in the reverse fixture before registering another versus Newcastle last season.
The 23-year-old now has a chance to showcase his skills in a black-and-white shirt. Social media posts have already shown Elanga being put through his paces during pre-season preparations.

Speaking to the club website, one of Elanga’s new teammates, Joelinton, welcomed the fresh addition. He said: "He's a really good player with a lot of qualities. He's very fast, can score or assist and has been tough to play against so I'm happy he's now joined us!
"He will be very welcome into the group and we will do everything to make sure he feels at home and comfortable so he can do what he has been doing for Nottingham Forest. I'm very happy he has signed and I wish him all the best."

Joelinton nears Newcastle United return
The Brazilian missed the back end of last season with a knee injury but is close to making a full return. Joelinton added: “I feel good now. I’ve had a long time to recover. The start of it was very difficult as, personally, I was very frustrated about the injury at the end of the season.
“There were a lot of important games and I could have been with the team. I was very sad but I knew I had to step out and recover because of my knee as I couldn’t help the team in the way I wanted. It was the best decision and I had enough time to recover and come back, starting with the guys in pre-season.
“My knee is good, I feel fully fit and happy. Injuries are not what you want but they can happen in football sometimes and you just have to deal with them and do everything you can to be fit. I now hope to have a season without injuries.”
