Arsenal’s academy continues to nurture exciting talent, and the latest to commit his future to the club is former West Ham 18-year-old midfielder Louie Copley, who has signed his first professional contract.
The announcement, confirmed by Arsenal on July 13, 2025, marks a significant milestone for the Southend-born youngster, who has been a standout performer in the club’s youth ranks.

His journey to Hale End wasn’t straightforward, with registration delays nearly derailing his dream move. However, perseverance paid off, and Copley has since progressed steadily through Arsenal’s youth system, earning plaudits for his technical ability and work rate.
A versatile central midfielder, Copley is comfortable playing as an attacking No. 10 or in a deeper role, dictating play with his precise passing, often likened to former Arsenal star Tomas Rosicky.
Last season, he was a key figure for Jack Wilshere’s U18s, making 21 appearances and scoring three goals, including a memorable chip in the FA Youth Cup against Manchester United at Emirates Stadium.

His ability to make late runs into the box and contribute defensively has also seen him feature for the U21s and in the UEFA Youth League.
Copley’s development was tested by a hamstring injury early this season, but his determination shone through, returning ahead of schedule to continue his progress.
His inclusion in Arsenal’s first-team training camp in La Manga this summer highlights the club’s belief in his potential. Now a full-time member of the U21 squad, Copley aims to follow in Declan Rice’s footsteps with his move from West Ham to Arsenal.
“This is the highest of the highs,” Copley said, reflecting on signing his contract surrounded by family. For Arsenal fans, his commitment signals another promising talent rising through the ranks, ready to carry the club’s proud tradition forward.
