The new contract comes as Arsenal moved to prevent Sweet from leaving as a free agent, with his scholarship deal set to expire this summer.
His commitment is a boost for Mikel Arteta’s vision of integrating homegrown talent into the first team, following the likes of Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri. Sweet has cited Arsenal’s defensive duo, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, as role models, expressing his ambition to one day play alongside them.
For Arsenal fans, Sweet’s signing represents another success story for the club’s renowned academy. His leadership, versatility, and recent U21 performances suggest a bright future.
As he continues to develop, supporters will be eager to see if Sweet can emulate the path of other Hale End graduates and make his mark at the Emirates.
