Cody Mauch May Be Among NFL’s Best
July 13th, 2025
Reason to smile.
It may be time for Bucs left guard Cody Mauch to start getting some love.
And not just for his toothless grin.
In a chart by the Twitter handle @fball_insights, it broke down which player on offense was responsible for pressures, or the percentage of pressures each position allowed.
Mauch was one of the more dominant right guards in the game if you believe this chart for his efforts into keeping Baker Mayfield’s uniform clean.
Mauch last year played 99 percent of the offensive snaps, some 1,133 snaps. Per @fball_insights, of those 1,133 snaps, 13.1 percent, or 148 snaps, Mauch was at least partially responsible for allowing a pressure.
Only Denver quarterback Bo Nix and Las Vegas quarterback Gardner Minshew saw a lower percentage of pressures come from their right guards.
Also, not factored in: Mauch was playing next to a rookie. So you have to figure Mauch may have allowed some pressures while he was trying to help out Bucs center Graham Barton.
Given this information, and earlier this offseason Tristan Wirfs saying he’s never seen a player recover as well from making an initial mistake to still make a play on the same snap (Joe had Wirfs’ intel corroborated by Bucs types), maybe it’s about time we start looking at Mauch as one of the game’s better right guards?

(Note on the graphic below: Skule played for both Luke Goedeke and Wirfs, so the percentages for Bucs’ tackles likely would have been lower.
