Tottenham Hotspur remain hopeful of securing a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White, despite a furious row with Nottingham Forest over allegations that the London club illegally approached the player.
Spurs seemed set to sign the 25-year-old after activating his £60million release clause and arranging a medical for the England international. However, Forest alleged they had not given Tottenham permission to speak to the player and were considering legal action over a potential breach of confidentiality regarding the release clause.
The disagreement has caused some confusion among fans, who are questioning how Forest can obstruct a transfer when the player's release clause has been met.
Forest are reportedly planning to file a complaint with the Premier League after Spurs allegedly submitted a bid matching the exact amount of the release clause.
Despite this, Football London reports that Spurs remain confident about finalising a move for Gibbs-White. The general consensus within the club is that Forest can only delay the transfer, not prevent it.

Gibbs-White was notably absent from the squad for Forest's first pre-season friendly, a goalless draw against Chesterfield, sparking rumours that the ongoing transfer saga was to blame.
However, it turns out that the England star was never scheduled to return at this point, having been part of the group of players on international duty last month - he is expected to resume training next week.
The report further states that Gibbs-White is a player who has caught the eye of new manager Thomas Frank, thanks to his standout performances for Forest in midfield over recent seasons.
