Liverpool are aiming to further bolster Arne Slot's squad in their bid to retain the Premier League title.

English football's most successful club equalled Manchester United's record of 20 top flight titles last season, to add to their stellar trophy cabinet, which also includes six European Cups - double their greatest rivals' tally of three. But Liverpool - who defeated Preston North End 3-1 at Deepdale in their first pre-season friendly on Sunday - aren't resting on their laurels.

After shelling out more than £200m on fresh talent, including attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz and flying fullbacks Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, the Reds have continued to be linked to further talents, including Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.

Meanwhile, speculation is also centring on which players might be sold to even out the finances, including one star who was key to their title triumph. Here's all the latest transfer talk from Anfield.

Konate to Madrid

Real Madrid have "reached a comprehensive agreement" with Ibrahima Konate, reports Spanish outlet Fichajes, who suggest a £43m deal is set to be sealed in the coming days.

The report adds that Konate, 26, "meets the qualities Xabi Alonso considers essential to compete at the highest level" and the French defender, with a year left on his contract, "is not considering any other alternative at this time".

If that is indeed the case, then Liverpool must make recruiting a new centre-back a matter of urgency, with Konate's deputy last season, Jarell Quansah, 22, having already left the club this summer for Bayer Leverkusen in a £35m deal.

Rumours are rife that centre-back Marc Guehi, 25, is more likely to depart Crystal Palace now they've been relegated from the Europa League to the Europa Conference League due to a multi-club ownership issue.

However, there is talk that besides the England international, who led the Eagles to FA Cup glory last season, the Reds have their eyes on two other promising talents on the continent.

Parma's Giovanni Leoni, an 18-year-old Italian international at youth level, and Wolfsburg's Greek prospect Konstantinos Koulierakis, 21, are "being watched," as reported by Liverpool journalist David Lynch.

Young talent Rio Ngumoha is set to sign his first professional contract with Liverpool following his 17th birthday next month, as per the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds managed a significant coup last summer when they signed the highly-regarded teenager from Chelsea. Despite still being on a scholarship deal, the thrilling winger made his senior debut in the FA Cup third round victory over Accrington Stanley in January.
