Manchester United are working on the right structure of a deal for Bryan Mbeumo and feel optimistic they will sign the Brentford winger in the next few days, according to Fabrizio Romano.
It's been a month since United started negotiating with the Bees for Mbeumo, who has made it clear that he wants to join Ruben Amorim's side. The Cameroonian forward also received interest from Newcastle United and Arsenal, but prioritised a switch to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have failed with two bids for the 25-year-old, worth £55m and £62.5m, including add-ons, and have found it challenging to convince the west Londoners to sell their star man. Amorim's men head to the United States for pre-season and will want the winger in his squad.

United and Brentford are holding ongoing contact over a deal for Mbeumo and Romano suggested that there is belief that the transfer will be given the green light shortly. Romano said on his YouTube channel:
"The contacts are still ongoing between United, Brentford, people involved in the deal. Mbeumo still wants to go to Manchester United, and the club maintains their confidence, their optimism, to get the green light and sign Bryan Mbeumo in the next days.
"So still no breakthrough in this story as of tonight but Manchester United keep advancing to find the right structure for the deal. They are working on easy and difficult add-ons, trying to make Brentford happy with their final proposal. So Man United are still on it. The Bryan Mbeumo deal is absolutely alive at this moment."
United CEO Omar Berrada opened up on INEOS' transfer strategy and why working on a deal can take a significant time to ensure the club gets the "right value for money". He explained that "being efficient or quick isn't necessarily the best thing for the club."
Brentford director Phil Giles confirmed the Red Devils' interest in Mbeumo but suggested that he could stay at the Gtech if a suitable fee isn't agreed between the two clubs.

Mbeumo has a year left on his contract and the Bees have the option to extend for a further year but a move seems likely ahead of an anticipated third offer. He will become Amorim's second summer signing if he does arrive at Old Trafford following Matheus Cunha's £62.5m arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
